Who is the course designed for?
To ensure that you have the appropriate knowledge and skills to help reduce the risk of harm to themselves and others while performing your duties.
You will be able to understand the risks associated with the use of physical skills when it comes to the use non-aggressive physical intervention to protect yourself and others from assault.
You will also be able to use non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive skills.
Those coming onto this course will have ideally already undertaken a course of training aimed at preventing, resolving and managing abusive, challenging and violent behaviours.
Course syllabus
Creating safer working environments
Understanding human behaviour and developing positive interactions
De-escalation and resolution communication skills
Understand the law and legislation relating to the use of force
Identify the risks associated with the use of physical intervention skills
Review and demonstrate personal safety awareness and techniques (non-pain related)
Review and demonstrate escorting techniques (non-pain related)
Know how to submit an incident report relating to the use of force
